Well in order to answer that, let me first tell you a little bit about me. I grew up in Southern California in the middle of the Mojave desert where I spent most my time outdoors with four-legged animals. I grew up with a wild passion for horses (all animals really) and I've tried everything from jumping to showing, to falling off our horse on purpose, to my love and my passion of going fast...barrel racing. Barrel racing is what sets my soul on fire. Horses give me wings, they make me whole and they're my therapy. Anyone who really knows me associates me with horses, it's all I've ever known.
Some of the best memories and days of my life were spent horseback surrounded by a community of people cheering you on no matter the competition. You would root for your best friend to beat you, and you would truly mean it. People in the rodeo world just seem to get it, they get me, and I get that.
Since having a child and becoming an adult, I have somewhat been removed from the rodeo scene, but it has not been removed from my heart. When I began this new journey to find my wellness, to get fit, and to really know what self-care means, I was naturally drawn to the words fringe and fitness. I mean, I have always been a little extravagant, and I love fringe! Anything that glitters, sparkles, shines or makes you stand out, I want it! I like to be different and I like to embody my uniqueness. Fringe to me is wild, it's fun, it's free, and it's a little bit different... just like me.
By definition, the fringe part fits even more.
1. not part of the mainstream; unconventional, peripheral, or extreme.
← see what I mean? I told you I was a little different.
----->the unconventional, extreme, or marginal wing of a group or sphere of activity.
We don’t have to fit a mold to fit in around here, we can be a little unconventional and sometimes a little extreme (wink, wink!)
4. a band of contrasting brightness or darkness produced by diffraction or interference of light.
← HELLO… I scan ultrasound, I literally see shades of contrast!
Besides the gorgeous flowiness of fabric fringe, it can also be seen as an edge, or a border holding in the inner fabrics, or embellishing the beauty that already exists. You get it! You are the inner fabric, and Fringe and Fitness is what will hold you, support you and of course make it all fun!
And the fitness part, well that just speaks for itself. No, I'm not a physical trainer and I'm not an extreme exercise guru. But, what I do know is that you need fitness in your life. How do I know this? Because I have a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, from Baylor University where I studied classes such as Kinesiology, Physiology, and of course, Anatomy. I also know how fitness (or the lack thereof) can impact your health literally from the inside out as performing ultrasounds is my full-time job. I have become more passionate about my own fitness because I like the way it makes me feel. I have a sense of pride when I'm working out, I know that I can look in the mirror and I've worked hard for that body that I see, it takes dedication and hard work and that's what I stand for.
So as for Fringe and Fitness, I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon, it's here to stay, we're in it for the long-haul! Fringe and fitness is me, I am fringe and fitness. I hope you know fringe and fitness is more than just the name or brand, fringe and fitness is a community, a support system that you can't find anywhere else. Just like the rodeos, you only get it if you've been there. So come and join us to find out what it's like to be a part of Fringe and Fitness.
